Coach Nelson Dy

A distinguished L&D facilitator, certified executive coach, published author, inspirational speaker, and content creator. He is passionate about raising leaders who excel in critical thinking, communications, and coaching—three competencies he believes form an organization’s true competitive advantage. For Nelson, coaching is about awareness and transformation, shifting leaders towards growth mindsets.

Nelson has worked with a diverse range of clients in the legal, financial, telecommunications, IT, healthcare, banking, academic, and military sectors. His contributions have earned him recognition as one of the Top 100 Filipinos to follow on LinkedIn for the years 2021 and 2023.

With over thirty years of corporate experience in operations and industrial marketing, Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s in business management. This unique blend of technical and commercial expertise allows him to bridge theory with real-life practice effectively.

Nelson’s signature training modules include “The Manager as Coach,” “Handling Difficult Conversations,” “From Technical Expert to Leader,” and “Communicating to Connect.” He also offers training in technical writing, presentation skills, succession planning, leadership communications, and more, tailoring his workshops to address client-specific pain points. His sessions are known for being insightful, instructive, and engaging.

Nelson has spoken at various corporate, academic, and faith-based organizations, including Sodexo Philippines, Smart Telecom, Eton Properties, UHY ML Aguirre & Co. CPAs, De La Salle University, and the Union Church of Manila. He serves as the Course Director and Master Trainer for The Center for Best Global Practices (CGBP), focusing on critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision making.

From 2008 to 2017, Nelson was a Sunday columnist for the Philippine STAR and has published twelve books, two of which were among the top ten in the 2022 Filipino Reader’s Choice Awards. He also writes “The Learning Coach,” a regular column in the e-magazine of the Philippine Society of Talent Development (PSTD).

Nelson’s corporate experience includes his current role as Consultant for People Development since 2024, and former roles as Assistant Vice President (2018-2024) and Plant Manager (2012-2018) at Packageworld, Inc., an affiliate of Asia Brewery, Inc. He has also held various leadership positions at Asia Brewery, Inc., Inca Plastics Philippines, PG Progress Marketing, Place, Inc., GE Plastics, United Coconut Chemicals, Inc., and Union Ajinomoto, Inc.

His professional affiliations include being a Mentoring Committee Member and Contributing Writer for the Publication Committee of the Philippine Society for Talent Development. Nelson has held various roles in Toastmasters District 75, including Club Mentor, Club President, Vice President for Education, Speech Trainer, and Evaluator since 2012.

Nelson holds certifications as a Certified Executive Coach by the US-based Center for Executive Coaching and Core Level and Advanced Level Certified Coach by the Singapore-based Coach Masters Academy.
